AI Decision APIs have introduced a new way to use AI inside applications. Instead of generating open-ended text, applications can ask AI to make bounded decisions that software can immediately consume. Consider a refund. AI can evaluate the context and determine whether a customer should receive one. But the complete business decision often continues: **How much should be refunded? By when? Developers working with Jev-style payloads can run the same familiar payload structure through aityx and add an explicit decision model on top. For example, AI can determine whether a customer should receive a refund, while the decision model determines the amount and the date by which it should be processed. The decision modeling capabilities can also be used independently when a use case does not require AI judgment. This allows developers to use aityx for AI decisions, combined AI and explicit business decisions, or decision modeling on its own depending on the problem being solved. ## Traceable and Explainable aityx retains the execution trace behind the decision, making it possible to understand how expressions, calculations, dates and business logic contributed to the final result. “Jev put AI Decision APIs on the map.
